A bit of History
Worth Consulting Ltd was established by Karen Whittleworth in 1994.
In 2000, after 6 years of successfully delivering generic leadership and management development training to many organisations, Karen decided to focus the business on the growing recognition that a coaching and mentoring style of leadership and management was the key to sustainable improvements in engagement, motivation and performance improvement.
In 2002, Worth developed the highly acclaimed OSCAR Coaching Model.
Karen Whittleworth and Andrew Gilbert, Directors, are authors of a number of books on coaching and mentoring that are endorsed and recommended by ILM. Our best selling book – “The OSCAR Coaching Model: Simplifying Workplace Coaching” can be read in under two hours and is a great starting point for those interested in a basic understanding of the power of coaching and mentoring – and how to do it! Our new book, “Manager as Coach: The New Way to Get Results” published by McGraw Hill was shortlisted for 2014 Management Book of the Year.
Worth Consulting Ltd trades as Worthlearning.
What we provide
Worth’s key purpose is to provide exceptional leadership and management development training to all levels – with a laser-like precision focused on a coaching and mentoring style.
With The OSCAR Model as a golden thread, our trainers are able to inspire leaders and managers at all levels to hold focused conversations that help to solve problems, make decisions, hold colleagues to account, enhance well-being, run projects, plan for and hold more effective meetings – whilst at the same time making colleagues feel more valued, involved and supported than ever.
Our expertise and passion for training leaders and managers in this approach is unrivalled. As the originators and IP holders of OSCAR, no other organisation using our approach has the experience, credibility and expertise that Worth has.
As national training award winners, our heritage is in high quality classroom delivery. However, learning takes many forms and our clients have long demanded a more flexible, engaging, and low-cost blend of learning interventions such as flipped classrooms, virtual classrooms and distance eLearning. We have developed a comprehensive set of leadership and management video’s (in broadcast quality) and are very experienced in delivering training over Skype, Zoom, GoToMeeting and Adobe Connect.
What makes us unique
Our energetic, inspirational and fun approach to training encourages leaders and managers to adopt skills and techniques that are 100% sustainable and helps organisations to create the behaviours needed for long-term culture change based on shared values.
In 2004, Worth won a National Training Award for the ‘Manager as Coach’ training programme and the return on investment that was achieved by organisations investing in this approach.
A focus on training leaders and managers to ask better questions, and to truly listen to their team members, is now more valuable than ever. With a radical shift to remote working evolving so quickly on a day to day basis, and all the fear and uncertainty that colleagues feel – practical leadership and management skills are even more vitally important than ever.
Therefore, our unique experience is in extensively designing and delivering training to organisations that value this approach.
We are an ILM Centre (Institute of Leadership and Management) accredited to deliver qualifications in Coaching and Mentoring (Levels 3, 5 and 7) and Leadership and Management (Levels 2, 3, 5 and 7).
